چکیده
Abstract We present an analytical model to compute frequency-dependent relative permeability functions for partially saturated porous media accounting viscous coupling effects. For this, we consider the oscillatory motion of two immiscible fluid phases and solve Navier–Stokes equations at pore scale using suitable interface conditions between fluids. These calculations are combined with generalized two-phase flow Darcy obtain corresponding upscaled macroscopic fluxes. By means analog consisting a bundle cylindrical capillaries in which fluids distributed concentric manner, find closed expressions complex-valued frequency- saturation-dependent functions. allow direct assessment effects on all frequencies saturations. Waves in Partially Saturated Porous Media
E orts to extend the theory of poroelasticity to semilinear and nonlinear elastic response, to partially saturated pores, to inhomogeneous solid frame materials, and to viscous losses due to localized ow e ects are summarized. The prospects for a comprehensive theory of wave propagation in partially saturated porous media and the reasons for needing such a theory are also discussed. The main re...
متن کاملPreferential Flow Phenomena in Partially-Saturated Porous Media
Preferential flow in unsaturated porous media, in the form of fingers and channels, has been observed to take place in different types of media and at different scales. The preferential flow is caused by fluid instabilities, created by density or viscosity differences, or because of heterogeneities in the geological media. In this study, two very different types of preferential flow problems ar...
متن کاملQuantifying colloid retention in partially saturated porous media
[1] The transport of colloid-contaminant complexes and colloid-sized pathogens through soil to groundwater is of concern. Visualization and quantification of pore-scale colloid behavior will enable better description and simulation of retention mechanisms at individual surfaces, in contrast to breakthrough curves which only provide an integrated signal. We tested two procedures for quantifying ...
متن کاملAn analytical solution of incompressible charged porous media
A one-dimensional analytical solution is derived for free swelling and consolidation of a saturated charged porous medium. The derived equations describe infinitesimal deformation of charged porous media saturated with a fluid with dissolved cations and anions. In the one-dimensional case the governing equations reduce to a coupled diffusion equations for electrochemical potentials. Suitable in...
متن کاملAnalytical determination of viscous permeability of fibrous porous media
In this study, the permeability of ordered fibrous media towards normal and parallel flow is determined analytically. In this approach, porous material is represented by a ‘‘unit cell” which is assumed to be repeated throughout the media. Several fiber arrangements including: touching and non-touching arrays are considered. Modeling 1D touching fibers as a combination of channel-like conduits, ...
